Device Name Library Item

Our new Device Name Library Item allows you to apply consistent device naming patterns to multiple Mac computers and iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV devices at the same time.

Previously, this functionality was available in Kandji for Mac only, using the Computer Name parameter. That parameter is being deprecated in favor of the new Library Item. The parameter will be tagged as deprecated and then removed 90 days later. If the new Device Name Library Item is added to a Blueprint with that parameter, the Device Name Library Item will be favored; the parameter will not be used as long as the Library Item is included.

With Apple’s release of macOS Sonoma, our Restrictions Library Item extended the existing Disallow modifying device name restriction to macOS 14 and later. This restriction will be moved to the new Device Name Library Item at a future date.
