Accessory & Storage Access Library Item

We have introduced a new Accessory & Storage Access Library Item, which will allow customers to configure access privileges for:

• External volumes (USB storage volumes, CDs, DVDs, SD and SDXC memory cards);

• Disk images; and

• Server volumes.

The new Library Item is found in the Endpoint Security category and requires the EDR SKU.

With this Library Item, admins can configure access privileges for the supported mount types to:

• Read & Write;

• Read only; or

• No access.

Admins can also require admin credentials to access external volumes and disk image mounts. For external volumes, admins can also require encryption for both read-write and read-only permissions. 

With display alerts, end users will be alerted if they attempt actions that are barred by the Library Item. We plan to add admin console alerts in the near future.

For server volumes, we inherit the permissions set on the server. Additionally, admins can set the access privileges to No access to block all server volume mounts on the Mac.

The Accessory & Storage Access Library Item will be available for all tenants through the EDR SKU. The EDR offering is now available for all tenants in the EU, as well as in North America.
