In order to use the managed distribution feature of Apple's Volume Purchase Program (VPP), businesses had to link their VPP account with their Apple mobile device management (MDM) solution. To do this, a secure VPP token was used. Once a successful link was made, users could begin assigning and distributing content to their business' managed devices. It should be noted that Apple has since replaced VPP with Apple Business Manager ( see “What is Apple Volume Purchase Program?”).
